(More customer reviews)When it is made by S & W.They've pulled off the seemingly difficult, and that is to create a rescue knife that still manages to look and feel like a hunting/defensive knife.Wonderful construction and design appeal.10" long when opened, and weighs almost 9 ounces.Sharp blade right out of the box.Typical of S & W.I don't know for certain the grade of stainless steel, but I'm willing to bet it's 440.Here's what I like the VERY best about this knife..............NOWHERE on the knife have I been able to find the word CHINA!I've used a magnifying glass under well-lit conditions.I don't know how S & W managed to pull that one off, but I'm thrilled that they did.A fluke?I don't know.Perhaps I should have kept my mouth shut.

I have no desire to have anything I own associated with the country that is capable of putting out some nice stuff, but more often than not it's third rate junk.Granted, I can't put all the blame on China, because some of it rightly belongs square on the shoulders of unscrupulous, tightwad manufacturers who are looking to make money at the expense of quality, child and adult slave labor, and human rights violations too many to count.I doubt these words of mine will remain for long, or even make it to the final version for that matter.But let me say again that I am most pleased with the fact that S & W managed to manufacture this knife in what almost certainly had to be China, and then get it exported back home (without a hint of its origin on the product itself) to where I was fortunate enough to get my hands on one of these beauties at what I consider to be a good price!

I own quite a few S & W knives.And for good reason.Nuff said.
