(More customer reviews)The first thing you should know about this thing, is that it's not a two foot long piece of butcher's iron. The whole thing in its case (which has a handy pocket clip) is about five inches long. The second thing you should know is that if used properly, it is the quickest and most convenient way to sharpen anything from a kitchen knife to a bowie knife you'll find.
The rod does eventually wear down, but you can get replacements for the shaft and not replace the whole thing. I'm thrilled with this little thing, and happily give it five stars.
