this knife could have been outstanding, but gerber has failed. this knife was intended to be a tactical knife, but i would not want to use it as such. i bought it for its small size (legal issues- cant have knives over 3" in MA) and because it was supposedly tactical. first problem- it has serrations. Fairbairn, whose name is actually on the friggen knife, is a close combat genius, and always been against having serrated knives. serrations are for utility purposes, and useless in a tactical knife. second- its a liner lock. this is kind of a preference, but the locking mechanism does interfere with opening. i dont like liner locks because of how you close them (possibly cutting your finger in the process). gerber's liner locks have another feature- a ball bearing that sits in a divot in the blade to keep it closed. this might be safe, but makes the knife hard to open in a hurry, and harder if your hands are sweaty (not to mention that the texturing on the thumbstuds suck). third- the steel is horrible. gerber says it has "high carbon stainless steel" which is actually an oxymoron, since high carbon and stainless are completely opposite themselves. upon actual use, i found that this knife has a very low carbon content and a very high chromium (stainless) content, since i have bent the tip 5 times now(high carbon knives are not flexible like stainless, however, they are brittle). there is one thing i do like about this knife- the balance. the center of gravity is in the forward part of the handle, around the tension screw and locking mechanism. this knife can be expertly thrown with ease (not that youd want to, since it is serrated, and youll probably bend the tip). in my opinion, this knif is not worth the money. i have a video review of it on my youtube channel: [...]
